mettre un accent tout particulier sur une utilisation
poussée de matières
typiquement africaines :
- Le Pagne
Tissé
Le Pagne Tissé tire son originalité et sa valeur
du fait qu’il est toujours fabriqué
artisanalement, ce qui lui donne une grande souplesse dans le choix des
design et des colories.
- Le Batik (ou
Thioup Africain) Le batik (mot javanais) est
une technique d'impression des étoffes pratiquée
dans des pays tels que le Burkina
Faso, la Chine,
l'Indonésie,
l'Inde,
le Sri Lanka
etc. Le procédé consiste à masquer
certaines zones du tissu avec de la cire pour empêcher leur
imprégnation par la teinture. On trempe alors le tissu dans
la teinture. Puis, après séchage, on fait fondre
la cire et le procédé peut continuer avec une
autre couleur.

- Le Bogolan Le bogolan est un
tissu teint suivant une technique utilisée au Mali, Burkina
Faso, Guinée. Le mot bogolan, de la langue bambara (la
langue la plus utilisée au Mali), vient des mots bogo la
terre, et lan qui veut dire avec. Il désigne à la
fois le tissu, et un style particulier de teinture.

addition to a design respecting Africans' senses of fashion, SBA prides

in intensively using fabrics and elements from African origins:
- Woven Loincloth
Woven loincloth gets its originality and value from its craft
manufacturing process, which gives a high flexibility in terms of
design and colors.
- Batik
Melted wax is applied to cloth before being
dipped in dye. Wherever the wax has seeped through the fabric, the dye
will not penetrate. Sometimes several colors are used, with a series of
dyeing, drying and waxing steps.

- Bogolan
Bògòlanfini
(sometimes bogolan) is a traditional Malian fabric
dyed with fermented mud, particularly associated with the Bambara. The
name is a Bambara word meaning "earthcloth."In the creation of
bògòlanfini, simple cotton cloth is woven,
shrunk, and then soaked in a preparation of leaves from certain trees.
An artist then outlines an intricate design with a mud dye, often
taking several weeks to cover the entire cloth. Yellowish areas of mud
are then treated with a caustic soda, bleaching them back to white for
a stark black and white design. Traditionally, a man will do the
weaving while a woman will do the dyeing.
